(stop negative thinking)
Your mind is filled with all kinds of thoughts all the time. But, have you ever just taken a minute to observe what kind of thoughts you generate most of the time? If the answer is no, you are missing the opportunity to see what your life mindset actually is. Now, if you find out that you often have negative thoughts, you now have the opportunity to change your thinking for the better.
Keep in mind that when you have negative thoughts all the time, those thoughts will affect your emotions. Then, your emotions will affect your behavior. Let’s see a few examples of some common negative thoughts:
• I’m not good enough
• I fail at everything
• Why do I have to be a loser?
• I’m not smart enough to do that.
• No one likes me.
• I always have problems.
These thoughts affect your emotions without you even noticing, especially if you think them all the time. Don’t get me wrong, it’s normal to have such thoughts once in a while in a complicated situation, but keeping them as a default setting and living with them can really affect your life in a negative way.
If you are having negative thoughts all the time, most likely you are dealing with negative emotions like sadness, depression, apathy, anxiety, fear, and more. And those emotions are going to drive you into depression easily.
You may feel quite hopeless or empty at times. And that is connected with your regular thoughts. Remember that the way you think affects your emotions and your emotions affect your behavior.
Let’s see it in this way, if you think negatively frequently, you’ll feel sad frequently, and that will directly affect your behavior. You may feel tired a lot and not have any initiative to get out of your house to do something. You may not be able to have a relationship because you are sad all the time. You may not be able to go to work regularly due to anxiety or depression. All of these behaviors ultimately stem from your thoughts and your life’s mindset.
You might be asking, How can I start changing those negative thoughts?
Now that you know how your thoughts affect your emotions and behavior, it’s really important that you learn how to flip those thoughts from negative to positive. Keep in mind that all this will take discipline and practice. It is possible to change the way you think, but it does take time and commitment.
You can start by monitoring your thoughts and by writing down those negative thoughts you tend to think a lot.
Then, take those negative thoughts and write some positive affirmations about them. Then, speak those positive affirmations aloud as often as you can. For example, if you normally think, “I’m not good enough to do that”, then write this affirmation: “I am a strong, confident individual, and I have the tools to accomplish my goal.”
Then, say it out loud as many times as you can per day. Over time, you will start noticing negative thoughts and erasing them from your mind before they even had a chance to form.
You will see how exciting it is to know that you can change your thoughts and your life, and changes in your thought process will bring about changes in your emotions and your behavior. Take the time to work on your thoughts. What kinds of things are you thinking about? Write it all down, look at them, and think of positive affirmations that you can say out loud. This can be the change you were looking for to start a new life.
