Start a new day with gratitude and positive thinking
How you start your day can greatly influence how the rest of the day goes and gratitude and positive thinking will help you with that. I mentioned before that you should start each day with a list of all the things you are grateful for, and this is very important for gaining all of the aforementioned benefits and advantages described in this website.
One of the most important parts of starting your day is to stay away from your phone, tablet or computer for at least a few minutes after you wake up. Shut off all distractions — email, social media, text messages, all of it — shut it off and spend 5 to 10 minutes going through a morning meditation routine designed to put you in the right mindset for the rest of the day.
The routine has two parts to it. First, you start to think of all the things you’re grateful for — write them down if you need to — and let your positive feelings and meaningful memories take you to a happier, calmer place. After that, once your mind is in that gratitude-fueled positive space, shift your focus to the present and the future. Think about the day ahead. Start with simple affirmations, like “today is going to be an excellent day at work”. “Today I’m going to look for opportunities to improve”. “Today I’m going to choose to see the positive in every interaction”. Say it like you mean it! Put your mind into what you are saying.
Then get down to the specifics. Try visualize all that you want for that day, for that week, for that month. Think about the end goals of your short-term or long-term projects. Think about how happy the completion of those projects will make you. Think how happy you will be to have even more things in your life to be grateful for.
The key here is to focus on the positive, on all the good things that have already happened to you and all the good things that are going to happen to you. Please, don’t make the same mistakes so many do: Don’t fall into a poor attitude every morning focusing on complaining and negativity.
